Twisted goof

I started making this pretty lace capelet out of some lovely light blue cashmere yarn that I won at an auction last year. It's a VERY simple pattern - and I am/was excited to see how it would turn out.
I had just finished the 2nd round of lace stitches when I noticed that the knitting was a bit... twisted. DAMNIT. Whenever you join a piece of knitting in the round the instructions always say something like this "Place marker and join, being careful not to twist cast on edge." And what do I do??? I twisted the cast on edge. And now I have to frog the whole thing and try again.
argh.
